Day 13 – The Walk

On Visiting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Some count their legacy in progeny

some count in bombs

skyscrapers, molecules or poems.

I know of one

who left us flowers –

unhybridized , humble, small,

not too showy one-on-one,

but seen en masse,

field upon field,

the heart begins bobbing,

be-bopping with the wind

while sun plays fiddle

to mockingbird’s soprano

and every leaf exults.
