Sing songs of revelry!

Beat drum, shake sistrum!

Gather together at nightfall

in large companies!

Come Friends!   Come Strangers!

Celebrate womanhood,

manhood, childhood, old age.

Tell stories, raise your glasses high,

set old sins outside the door,

and bar the threshold to self-doubt.

This is the season

of small comforts,

snug fellowship

and sweet sorority.

Together we gather,

sharing shelter,

sitting at table

bound by laws of hospitality

old as tribes

to break our bread

in peace.
